About this project

Moving advice for people with actual lives happening.

Unpacked, Eventually is an independent project for making the logistics between homes easier to sort out. The goal is useful checklists, plain-English explanations, and small tools that show their assumptions instead of pretending a calculator can see inside your closets.

Moving information can get scattered across provider websites, contracts, facility rules, and government guidance. We try to point readers to primary sources when the details matter, keep the tools simple, and say where an estimate stops being useful.

How the tools work

The volume planner uses broad room averages plus any box or bulky-item volume you enter. A planning buffer is adjustable and represents a cushion for imperfect loading; it is not a truck recommendation or a mover’s quote. The repair-or-replace calculator divides costs by the expected years you enter. It does not assess safety, diagnose an appliance, or forecast how long it will last.

The values you enter are processed in your browser. The tools do not send them to us or save them as an inventory. See Privacy for more information about the static site and hosting.

Editorial approach

Moving rules and provider terms vary by state, route, and contract. We link official guidance where possible and encourage readers to confirm details directly with movers, storage facilities, state agencies, or qualified technicians. Pages include update dates; if an official source changes, the source page is the place to check first.

This site may eventually include clearly disclosed affiliate links. There are no affiliate links in the current guides or tools.
